Dearness Allowance is a critical salary component for Central Government employees and pensioners which offers relief against inflationary pressures. The DA is adjusted in January plus July, every year as per CPI for industrial workers statistics. Usually, the DA hike effective from January is notified in the preceding October – December time period to ensure timely payments. The DA Hike 2025 update brings relief for Central Govt. employees plus pensioners. Due to delay, the Dearness Allowance revision effective from January 2025 was notified in April 2025, much later than expected. The DA rate from 53% was raised now to 55% and the next DA raise is expected to effect from July – December 2025. The arrears of three months when DA was not paid, it will now be paid along with the recent salary in May 2025. Current Dearness Allowance Status
As of May 2025, the Dearness Allowance stands at 55% for the Central Government employees and pensioners. This DA Hike – from earlier 53% to 55% – became effective from 01/01/2025. However due to delays, the formal notification for the hike was issued in April 2025.
Know 3 Months Appears Payment Dates 2025
The employees did not get the increased DA for January, February, March. Now, the Government has confirmed that the arrears for these three months will not be made prior to the March 2025 disbursement date of salary which is usually in April. It means in May 2025, the arrears of three months will be paid. Central Govt. employees must look at their salary slips to know whether they have received the arrears payments or not.
